The Industrious Ant. Horace once said that the tiny ant is a creature of great industry; it drags with its mouth whatever it can, and adds it to the heap that she is piling up, not unaware nor careless of the future. Then William Morton Wheeler noted that the ants are not only efficient, they are hardworking and thrifty, qualities that have always been reasons for seeing them as virtuous role models. With the two quotes in mind, we can borrow more admirable qualities from the ants.
