IncredibleSeries for Self improvement.
Paulo Coelho once said, “When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
Self-improvement is a continuous journey of learning and improving, getting better every day. Just like birds were created for flight and fish for swimming, humans were created for growth. We need to grow as much as we possibly can and learn as much as we possibly can.
The whole of nature was created for growth, a tree will stretch its roots as far as it possibly can, breaking through barriers and nothing can stop its pursuit for nutritious water. Human beings are much more powerful when it comes to breaking barriers due to our remarkable minds. It is said that what the mind can conceive, it can achieve.
Here are incredible self-improvement tips which will keep you on track on your pursuit of self-improvement. Always remember that small daily disciplines practiced consistently will amount to big achievements with time. We need to have patience for our big dreams and tackle our daily goals with speed.
It is said that before you can love someone else, you need to love yourself. You need to love yourself just the way you are and simply be yourself. Value yourself more than you value other people. Be authentic and share your uniqueness with the world. Fall in love with yourself, appreciate yourself, and be proud of how wonderfully you are created. You need to celebrate yourself before the world celebrates you.
In an article by Loiuse Hay, ‘Do You Truly Know How to Love Yourself?’ she wrote,’ “When people start to love themselves more each day, it’s amazing how their lives get better. They feel better. They get the jobs they want. They have the money they need. Their relationships either improve, or the negative ones dissolve and new ones begin.”
2. Create Positive Habits.
Most of the time you’ll hear people say that you need to stop bad habits or you need to change your habits, but the truth is that habits cannot be stopped or changed, but they can be replaced. As long as a habit is part of your daily life, there is no way you can automatically stop it or change it, but you can gradually replace it with a more positive habit. For example, the time which was spent drinking can be replaced with a reading a good book so that you can keep your mind engaged. If you can do that long enough then you develop a reading habit which can have a positive result in your life.
3. Goal Setting.
Goals are the driving force that propel us towards achieving our dreams. A great dream is the one broken down into smaller goals which can be achieved within a period of time. You can think of your dream as a complete picture of a puzzle and the small goals like pieces of a puzzle. If you place all the small pieces together in their correct places then you can have a complete clear picture of the puzzle. Like I said earlier, be patient with your big dreams but tackle the small goals with speed.
4. Learn from failures.
Instead of looking at failures with despair and a lot of pain, we can look at them with critical eyes of learning. Every failure is a learning moment and we can learn so much from past failures. Someone once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting the different results. We can also learn from other people’s mistakes so that we can make better decisions. The past is like a school master, teaching us the principles of life.
5. Be Thankful and Grateful.
The quality that will fill us with peace and satisfaction is gratitude. Grateful people are always happy people. Look at the wonderful things that you have in your life right now and just say thank you. We might overlook the things that we have now but there are other people who are wishing to have what we have. Let’s enjoy what we have now as we work hard on growing and becoming better.
6. Learn a New Skill.
Learning a new skill is also part of self-improvement, you can learn additional skills which are in line with your big picture. For example, a person looking forward to starting a business has to learn several skills such as sales skills, leadership skills, management skills and also investment skills, which are critical in a successful business venture.
7. Time Management.
Time is an important element in life because the more time you spend the more you are moving towards your end. We only have one life and we have to live it well. It is said that if a person has decided to spend time with you, he or she has decided to spend a part of their life with you. We can start spending time on the most important things in life, we can give at least 80 percent of our time towards worthwhile courses.

8. Study Consistently.
It is recommended that you need to read a few pages of a book daily as part of self-improvement process. To make it easier and consistent, some experts recommend that we read at least 10 pages of a book daily with the aim of mastering the book. Then move to read a second book after you have mastered the previous book. Some people have spent almost the entire of their lives researching on a particular topic and they have written all the findings in a book. Our job is to read the books and apply the principles in our lives.
9. Meditate Daily.
Find some time at the end of the day where you can review the activities of the day in mind through meditation. You can use a strategy I call ‘Incredible rewind’ where you replay the activities of the day and when you find a particular situation that you didn’t like, you imagine it going as you wanted it to be so that you can correct it next time. That is the time that you reflect on goals and dreams and plan accordingly on how you are going to achieve them.
10. Push Through Hard Times.
At some point in life we go through difficult times and these are the moments that we are hurt and we experience heart aches. Most of the things don’t work and you might even end up losing people who are close to you. During these moments we need to realize that it is temporary. What we can do is learn and continue preparing ourselves for future opportunities because after all, tough times will pass. Manage your emotions during these times and make well thought out decisions because they will have an impact on your life thereafter.
11. Embrace Change.
Change is inevitable and in life we will experience various changes from time to time. What we can do is to learn how to appreciate and embrace change. Instead of fighting it, you should learn how to adapt. Whenever you experience a certain change in life, try and reflect through the change to determine the future impact it has on your life then plan accordingly to make it work in your favour. So many opportunities are missed because people fail to make adjustments accordingly or even decide to flow with the change when it’s too late. Be wise and study the moments then create a plan to win through the changing times.
12. Learn to be Generous.
It’s said that it is much better to give than to receive. When it comes to giving, it’s not so much about giving money, but being generous as a whole. Where you can give your time generously to profitable courses like community programmes, spending time with children at children homes, using your talents and gifts to affect people’s lives in a positive way. During those moments you give generously without expecting something in return.
13. Expect to Succeed.
Whatever you expect you receive. Some people are wired to only expect bad things to happen and they experience bad things in their lives. As people dedicated to self-improvement, we need to expect great things to happen to us and because we don't always experience good moments, we can develop a positive attitude of turning our failures to success. As Irving Berlin said, “Life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it.” Expect to succeed and work hard knowing that you will have success in the end.
14. Set Standards.
Successful people set remarkable standards for themselves and they don’t settle for anything else but the best. They don’t believe in failure, nor do they ignore it, but they understand that they have to win big. Donald Trump once said, “He doesn’t settle for second best, nor does he want to be number two, but he goes for the best, being number one.” Set big goals for yourself and aim higher. An archer understands that when he wants to hit the target, he has to aim a little bit higher than the target so that when the arrow is pulled downwards by gravity, it has a chance of hitting the bull’s eye.
15. Create a Vision Board.
A vision board is a collection of images and words that represent the goals and dreams that a person would like to achieve. Create a vision board where you can have a collection of the incredible things that you would like to do in life to serve as inspiration and motivation. Take some time every day to look at your vision board and figure out ways to accomplish goals. A mind which is focused daily to achieve something will find a way to accomplish it.
These are 15 incredible self-improvement tips to keep you on track on the continuous process of personal growth. Personal effort and self-drive is what matters most when it comes to self-improvement. A decision to intentionally work on yourself daily will give you a winning edge over the rest of the people.
